Zac Clark & the Griswolds: Come On Down

Zac Clarke and the Griswolds | Come On Down

From the band formerly known as Warface, Zac Clark & the Griswolds’ freshman three-track EP Come On Down walks a light-footed 00’s punk step with clean crunch guitar and almost comedic lyrics, making it known that the band is more interested in having fun than pushing an agenda, political or otherwise (if the “The Price Is Right” theme hasn’t made that obvious enough).

If you don’t believe it, search no further than the vocal interlude on the title track, in which Zac Clark announces, “We’ve got a great washer and dryer for you…with three speed cycles,” giving us all unreasonable hope of winning prizes at their next show. Unfortunately, all three tracks clock in at just over five minutes; enough to start enjoying the band’s sound, but not enough to savor it—like an hors d’oeuvre waiter who never comes back with more beefsteak. Still, you could easily drop Zac Clark & the Griswolds into the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack and never miss a beat, as the band effortlessly falls in line with the likes of The Vandals, Dead Kennedys, Goldfinger, and Suicidal Tendencies. Keep your old Warped Tour comps in the closet and pick up Come On Down— the five minutes are worth it.
